After printing on a once per month schedule for 2009, the Muslim Link is resuming its normal bi-weekly (every other week) publication schedule as of the March 12, 2010 issue.
The newspaper, the largest English language publication serving the Muslim community in the greater Washington DC and Baltimore metropolitan area, went monthly last year as part of a cost-cutting strategy needed to keep the paper afloat.

For the past 10 years, Muslims in the Dar-us-Salaam community in College Park, Maryland were steadily increasing their level of civil engagement.
Starting with hosting open houses and picnics, the community – which is home to Al-Huda School -- hosted local politicians, invited the city’s mayor to speak, and accepted many invitations to churches and area schools to talk about their faith.

During his elementary school days, D.C.-native Sulayman Kokayi was the child who always had to struggle and give triple the effort to learn the Arabic language. On several occasions, he was asked to leave the classroom. According to teachers, he was not up to par with the rest of the students.

Much is made of the need to invest in the youth of the Muslim community. But in a nation whose elderly population growth rate is outpacing the rest of society, the need to service the older generation is being felt in masjid communities everywhere.
